"If you live in New Jersey's Eighth Legislative District, for the first time in a while you have a real choice of the type of person you send to the NJ Senate. In the past, Republicans have won this seat because there has not been a strong Democratic candidate to provide a legitimate challenge. But not this year. While the GOP incumbent's history in the legislature is bereft of major accomplishments, the Democrats have nominated a smart, hard-working challenger.
Some people run for office for the power and notoriety. Some people run to enrich their pocketbooks.
Some people run to keep a seat warm. (e.g. the incumbent).
And some people run because they have a genuine passion for public service. Such is the case for George Youngkin. A retired lineman for PSE&G and an avid volunteer in his hometown, if his campaign style is any indication George will be one of the hardest working legislators in Trenton. He's knocked on thousands of doors and will put the needs of his constituents ahead of any political ambition. I've known George for only a few years, but I'm impressed with his work ethic and acumen. We need people like George in the State Senate and I wholeheartedly support him in his November election."
